In 2020, an employee had asked if I would be on the board, understanding that they needed help in all areas, funding, organization and animal care--all of it! I came to a couple of meetings and realized that I could definitely make a difference and could be of help in establishing a more professional and organized governing body. I am extremely proud of what has been accomplished. I have met wonderful new friends and am extremely proud to be on this board. I also see the work that still needs to be done and am committed to seeing it through. My family and children have seen me working to improve the lives of animals and they are proud of me and the progress the shelter has made. I hope I am setting a good example and establishing a foundation for the future of the ACAPL.

Rebecca Arcaro-Frazee, Treasurer
My love of animals led to my desire to join the APL board in 2020. Since then I have served as treasurer and also became a foster fail to two crazy pups. I have over 32 years in governmental accounting experience, 17 of which she spent with the Ashtabula County Auditor’s office as head of the Accounting Department. From there I moved to Cincinnati and spent 3 years with a Governmental software company where she did testing, implementation and training of the software designed by the company for County Auditor’s offices in the State of Ohio.

My love for animals started a very young age. Some of my fondest childhood memories include animals. The first dog my family ever had came from the APL. Her name was lady and she a dachshund/husky mix and she was my best friend. The APL from that moment held such a special place in my heart and I never forgot that magical feeling of finding our perfect fur baby. When my daughter and I moved back to Ashtabula and were ready for a furbaby of our own, I knew where to go! My daughter watched the Facebook page for weeks and then we found, "Ethel", a beautiful puggle and she the perfect fit for our family. Fast forward a few years and we have welcomed in additional dogs and cats. WE have also become fosters and have loved the experience of watching each fur baby open up as they become comfortable in our home.
Until I became a board member, I had no idea how much the APL did for our county. I am proud to stand next to them and I am thankful to be involved in bettering the lives of abandoned and neglected animals.
