We are actively recruiting volunteers to support our growing foster program. No experience is required to become a foster--and all training, materials, and support resources are provided. Fosters help in a variety of ways, on a short-term or long-term basis.
Time out of a Kennel
Animals of any age who have been living at the adoption center can be sent into foster care to escape the stress of the kennel environment.
Medical Care
For animals with specific needs who need time away from the shelter to reduce stress and promote healing.
Behavior
This is for animals who require training, specialized observation, and/or socialization before they can be adopted.
Kennel Space
ACAPL can help more animals when foster homes are available, opening up space in our kennels for other animals in need.
Expectant moms, kittens/puppies, orphans
To provide the healthiest environment possible pregnant moms and residents under 6 months of age are all housed in foster care until they are adopted out.
ACAPL medical staff coordinates all required vaccinations and surgeries while the babies are in foster care.
