OWNER SURRENDER
Surrendering an animal is a difficult and emotional process for owner and animal. We strive to manage each case and find the best possible outcome for all involved.
We do not accept unscheduled public drop-offs. An appointment is required for all animal surrenders.

DOG SURRENDERS
If you are interested in surrendering a dog, please fill out the form below. If this is a dog you adopted from ACAPL, please DO NOT use this form - call our office at 440.224.1222 to schedule a return.
While we cannot guarantee we can take in your dog, we may be able to assist as our time, space, and other resources allow. If you are trying to surrender multiple dogs, you will need to fill out a separate surrender form for each dog. You will be required to sign a legal release of ownership (you must show proof of ownership prior to surrender) and donate a surrender fee based on your ability. This fee helps contribute the cost of care of the animal, such as spay/neuter surgery and vaccinations. A lower surrender fee will be charged to those surrendering an animal that's been spayed/neutered (with proof). Next Steps: If we are interested in accepting your animal into our care, we will contact you via phone and/or email to collect additional information. If you do not hear from us, this means we cannot intake your animal at this time. Please leverage SAFE rehoming sites or try Facebook groups specifically designed for this purpose. Please ensure you ask for a rehoming fee (we recommend a minimum of $20). |

Before surrendering your pet to the Ashtabula Animal Protective League we ask that you exhaust all other options of rehoming your pet with another loving family.
