Our Volunteers
Our volunteers of Ashtabula County Animal Protective League help support staff in daily operations and care of animals awaiting forever homes. The help of volunteers keeps the shelter running and we are always in need of more helping hands that are willing to provide care and support to animals in need!
Volunteer Requirements
To become a volunteer at ACAPL:
- Active volunteers are asked to commit to a minimum of five hours a month for at least six months.
- Attend a New Volunteer Orientation
- To volunteer independently, you must be age 16 or older. Volunteers 16-17 years old will need parental consent on their volunteer application. Volunteers 9-15 years old may volunteer with an adult partner, typically a parent or guardian under our Furever Friends program is a wonderful opportunity for children to get involved at the shelter. An adult partner must accompany and actively work with/supervise their youth partner in the same volunteer assignment throughout their volunteer experience. Furever Friends may volunteer in most assignments, including those that work with animals. Certain restrictions apply.
